Pharmacology: Specific Learning Objectives (PB)

Specific Learning Objectives describe what the students are expected to learn at the end of any lecture/practical/tutorial, and are the intended outcomes of teaching?learning activity. Pharmacology is a dynamic, vast and everexpanding discipline in which concepts and contents change constantly and rapidly. Those studying this subject may find it difficult to grasp and keep up with the vast and expanding drug information. This book gives SLOs which state ?what aspect? of the drug information in a given system or disease is essential for a learner to know while prescribing medicines and monitoring their effects. SLOs cover the ?must know? topic of the syllabus, some SLOs expect you to select appropriate drug or justify choice of drug prescribed, and also cover the prototype drugs as well as other similar drugs which are essential in therapeutics. Apart from various drug classes, SLOs for background knowledge of physiology and pathology have also been included. The book provides objectives on rational selection of drugs and on pharmacotherapy of common diseases encountered in clinical practice.
